How many calories a day do you eat?

So when I got home from work today, I was soooooo tired.  I’m like I don’t want to work out!!!  (I dind’t yesterday) Then I thought about all of you guys, and how inspiring all of you are, and I got off my lazy butt and did my biggest louser dvd.  I honestly think I would have quit this journey with out all of the support and kindness I have gotten here.  It’s so nice to communicate with people who REALY understand what I am going through.

Well that being said I have a question to pose.  How many calories a day do you eat to loose weight?  There are so many differant sites that say differant things.  Were talking about a 1000 calorie diffance with recomendations.  I’m 5″7, and want to eat the minimum I have to, to be healthy and loose weight.  I don’t want to send my body into “starvation” mode. LOL, not like I would ever do that!

So…How tall are you, and how many calories a day do you eat to loose weight???

I am 5′7″ and i eat 1200-1500 a day and allow myself a little more if im feeling extra hungry and have worked out. Everytime i stick to this and working out at the same time i lose! I usually stay around 1300-1400 though.

Funny, I was just thinking about posting the same question. I’m tiny, only 5′2, and I’ve been eating around 1250-1400 cals a day for the past month and losing weight. They say not to go under 1200.

I’ve read lots too and find it confusing. A friend of mine was just talking about how she lost weight after seeing a dietician and was on a diet of 1800 cals. That seems like a lot, but she lost about 30lbs in 3 months. Not bad.

I know that you can eat too little as well as too much and it’s about finding the perfect balance.

I’ve been thinking about experimenting with a bit more calories and seeing if for some weird reason, it makes me lose more.

So, let me know if you figure it out, I’m curious too. I know that if you plug your activity level and things into the food journal you will get a guideline, that might help too.

    Good luck.

I eat 1,750 calories. I am 5′2. When I had my personal trainer 2 years ago that was the amount he told me to eat and it worked for me. I am sticking with that amount for now. I know the less you weigh the less calories you are allotted.

I’m 5′3″, on my exercise days I eat around 1500 to 1900 calories because I do about 2 to 3 hours of exercise. On my off day I eat between 1400 to 1600 calories. Everything in moderation. See, today I ate 1/2 a pizza and some chips. No guilt.

I hope you find a formula that works for you.

I’m 5′9” and eat between 1,600 and 1,200 a day. I try alternating how much I eat each day, which prevents my body from becoming too used to one set caloric intake and thus prevents my weight loss from reaching a plateau. One day I will eat 1,200, the next 1,350, the next 1,600, and then drop back down to 1,200. So far its working! I also try not to burn more than 300 calories a day because otherwise I get waaaaay too hungry and am tempted to eat more than I should!

Nancy is that half a slice of pizza or half the pizza like 4 slices of an 8 slice pie?! and chips stop your making me jealous and hungry :p

I’m 5′2 (that’s pushing it lol) and I eat 1200 a day and workout for 4 to 4 1/2 hours on the days I workout. I didn’t see anybody for this formula as they recommend. It’s what works for me if I stick to it and my excersizes I lose guaranteed and of course I do go over 1200 a few days out of the week. I think I’ll experiment the way the person above me does if my body stops losing. Hope you find what works for you I’d probably go by what your trainer said for now maybe see a nutritionist? If that’s an option for you.

It’s all about your BMR hun… everyone is gonna be different, and you have to customize it to your self. If you look at the top of Buddy slim and click on Calorie Counter, it will tell you what your BMR that’s how many calories you need a day to maintan, subtract 500 (either with taking in less calories or exercise) to lose about 1lb a week, 1000 for 2lbs a week, but make sure you don’t go under 1200 calories! for example if your BMR is 2000 and you want to lose about 2lbs a week, try cutting back to 1500 calories a day, and then burning about 500 calories threw exercise (this is just an example!) and you’ll create a negative calorie deficit. Try googling “BMR” or “Calorie deficit” if you wanna read more about it, it also helps to switch up your calories every other day so your body doesn’t know what’s coming at it next! It’s called “Zig Zagging” (you can google that too… lol I google just about everything I can think of!) Hope that helps hun! Good Luck!

I am 5′8 and I try my hardest to stick to between 1300 and 1500 but I do have off days where I hit 2000 (dam beer messin up my good days hehe)…but I make sure I get in one hour of exercise on my stationary bike every day, lately I try to squeeze in a second work out in a day, maybe a bit much, but its workin ;)
At this rate I will be in my mini goal jeans by my birthday, Feb 2nd, and I am so looking forward to getting in them.
You are doing great! Keep up the awesome work ;)
    Peace,

Man you guys are making me wish I was taller. I am 5′4 and eat 1200-1300 calories per day. I have learned on the days I work out to eat an extra 100-200 calories or I poop out and feel crappy.

I am 5′9″ and I eat about 1200 to 1500 a day. I follow a diet from my doctor. It’s 1500 but sometimes I’m just not that hungry, so I don’t get them all. Follow the BMR calculator as already suggested!

I am 5′5″ and eat about 1500 plus half of what I burn exercising and that seems to be working for me. I am a very active person so if I don’t eat enough I go into starvation mode. My doctor told me never to drop below 1200, and even to avoid eating less than 1400.

But my advice is to try to figure out what you were eating before you started cutting back and gradually cut back from there. Don’t go from 3000 to 1500 overnight.

I am 5′10″ and I typically eat between 1200-1500, usu right at 1480 but have gone as high as 1900 this week and as low as 1264… I have not been exercising regularly but I am still so overweight that it is coming off with sporadic exercise so far…
